For the most part, Insurance companies consider bioidentical hormone therapy as an “elective” and not medically necessary, and usually not covered. If it is covered, you will likely find that patient may get coverage for synthetic estrogen or progesterone, but not well for others. Often times they will only cover the lowest doses, but not the doses it can take to get a patient into her therapeutic range, and they almost never cover compounded medications, which are the best way to optimize a woman’s treatment, because they are customized to her specific needs. You may be able to get some hormones covered by insurance, but they will not be customized specifically for you. Some women will do fine with the pre-determined dosages of synthetic hormones, and some will not. Many women have already tried conventional hormone treatment with a provider in the past and did not respond as they had hoped, so they are looking for a different option: a treatment plan that is driven by best practices and customized for them. Her Clinic does not bill insurance or do prior authorizations, but we can provide you with a superbill that you may submit to your insurance for possible payment.

DOES INSURANCE COVER SEMAGLUTIDE?

Semaglutide is not usually covered by most Medicare or insurance plans, but manufacturer and pharmacy coupons can help offset the cost. (If you believe your insurance company does cover this service, I suggest you schedule an appointment with your primary care provider). It currently is very expensive ($1,200 to $1,800 a month). We will use compounded semaglutide which will be a fraction of the cost.  The medication will cost approximately $350 a month (only $87 a week), and a three-month minimum commitment payable monthly is REQUIRED, due to product cost. THIS PRICE INCLUDES THE MEDICATION, SYRINGES AND WEEKLY VISITS/WEIGH-INS. Once you become comfortable with the regimen, we will space out visits. We are also available any time you have a question or a problem. We also recommend that once your supplies are delivered to your home you bring them into the office and let us show you how to draw up and administer the medication to yourself. We are also happy to administer your injections for you if you are not able to do them yourself.
